LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
JOHN QUEEN
I, JOHN QUEEN,
of the County of Carroll and State of Ohio, do make and publish
this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
that is to say-
FIRST:
It is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be
fully paid.
SECONDLY: I give, devise and bequeath to my
beloved wife, Nancy Queen, in lieu of her dower, the plantation
on which we now reside, situated in the Township of Augusta,
County of Carroll and State of Ohio, containing about thirty-six
acres, during her natural life, and all the live stock by me now
owned and kept thereon, also all the household furniture and
other items, not particularly named and otherwise disposed of in
this will, during her natural life as aforesaid; she however
first disposing of a sufficiency thereof to pay my just debts as
aforesaid. And that at the death of my said wife, all the
property hereby devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid, shall
be sold for money, and the money thus obtained shall be disposed
of as follows, that is to say – fifty dollars, shall be given to
my daughter, Elisebeth Iona Demis, and fifty dollars to
my grand son George Thomas Meaner (who is now about ten
years of age and residing with me), provided he remains with my
wife untill he is sixteen years of age, should she so long live;
and the balance shall be equally divided into four equal parts,
three shares of which shall be equally divided among my three
sons-in laws or their heirs, viz Samuel Meaner and Mary, his
wife - John Iomes and Elisabeth Ann Iomes, his
wife, and John Coburn and Catharine, his wife; and the fourth
share shall be equally divided among the heirs of David Strow,
which he had by my daughter Sara who is now Dec?
And lastly, I hereby constitute and appoint Harry Baxter, to be
the Executor of this my last will and testament.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand seal, this
thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand
Eight Hundred and Forty five (1845).
