Mrs. Lelah M. Owen

Mrs. Lelah May Owen, 85, of Augusta, mother of C. Jay Owen of Carrollton, Carroll County auditor, died Dec. 30 at her home following a heart seizure.

She was born in Augusta and had lived there her entire life.  Mrs. Owen was the widow of John Owen, who died Oct. 21, 1952.

Surviving are another son, Seth of the home; a brother, Jesse Bettis of Cleveland; six grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 1 in Augusta Christian Church with Rev. Edward Hanna and Rev. L. L. Barnett officiating.  Burial was in Augusta cemetery.
