Doris N. McCurry was born in Carroll County on May 6, 1915 to Lewis S. and Iva Blanche (Marshall) Ray, and passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006, which would have been her and her husband's 70th wedding anniversary. She was a long time resident of Minerva, where she was a member of the Minerva First Christian Church. She was a 1933 graduate of Carrollton High School and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star where she had been Worthy Matron of the Augusta Chapter. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lloyd B. McCurry who passed away May 10, 1988; a sister, Letha Manfull ; brothers, Kenneth, Kermit, Everett and Mervin Ray. She is survived by two daughters, Louise Elsner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Teresa (Steve) Riggs of Dallas, TX; two sons, David (Linda) McCurry of Canton, OH and Ray (June) McCurry of Delaware, OH; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Mr. Ralph Norman officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Augusta Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 1-3 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to her grandson's church, Victory Church on the Rock, c/o Pastor David McCurry, 9474 Cleveland, Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
