Sara Lavina
(Reid) Manfull, 92, of
Augusta, passed away in the loving arms of her family on
Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009 at her home. Sara was born in
Specht, Ohio - between Augusta and Mechanicstown - on Aug.
15, 1917. She is the daughter of the late John D. and
Lovella Blanche (Andrews) Reid.
Always a farm girl, Sara spent her childhood working on the
family's cattle operation with her three sisters: Bernice
(Robert) McClester, Martha (Edgar) Snode and Elnora (John)
Ocel, all of Mechanicstown. She attended Muskingum College
and then married Clair "Bud" Manfull of Augusta.
The couple took over Manfull Orchards and Farm Market
operations from Bud's father, Paul Jehue Manfull. Though
Sara's memory was clouded by Alzheimer's in her last years,
she continued to take pride in the farm, her flowerbeds and
her family.
Sara is survived by two daughters: Connie (Jesse) Crate of
Garrettsville, Ohio and JoAnn (John) Scherr of Augusta.
She was a treasured grandmother to Jennifer (Ryan) Kiko of
Mechanicstown; Brent (Jennifer) Baker of Mechanicstown;
Rebekah (Jay) Gansheimer of Augusta; and Taryn (Caleb)
Jeffreys of Nashville, Tenn. She also enjoyed her nine
great-grandchildren.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband Bud in 1996; and
sisters Bernice McClester and Martha Snode.
