Hawk, John

Age 65 of Carrollton died Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Aultman Hospital. He was born April 13, 1944 in East Rochester to Ralph Hawk of Kensington and the late Nita (Beitzel) Hawk.

He retired from Sugardale after 30 years of service and was co-owner of the Carrollton Dairy Queen for eight years and owner of Spring Valley Farms for over 30 years. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1962 and is a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Augusta Lodge #504 F&AM and the Carroll County Farm Bureau.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Mary (Cogan) Hawk, who he married May 25, 1963; two daughters, Tammie (Larry) Bankert of Port St. Lucie, FL, Lisa (Bob) Ellington of Carrollton; two brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Hawk of Carrollton, Doyle (June) Hawk of East Rochester three grandchildren,Travis Webb of Port St. Lucie, FL, Austin John (AJ) and Olivia Ellington of Carrollton.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Lefern Hawk.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Katie Osier officiating. Burial will be in Augusta Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home with Masonic Services at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church or the Augusta Masonic Lodge.
