Isaac Curry was born near Amsterdam, Jan. 28, 1831,
and died Sept. 25, 1912, at his home east of Augusta. The
deceased suffered a number of years with cancer. He gradually
failed in health until the last six months of his life he was
confined to the house. He patiently bore his suffering, seldom
complaining, and always had a pleasant greeting for those who
visited him.
He was married to Miss Sarah Manfull in 1858. To them were
born twelve children, eight boys and four girls: Frank,
George, Charles, Lawrence, Addison, Clement, Laura, Bertha, Ida,
Adah, Foster and Owen -- the last four having preceded him in death.
The deceased lived the greater part of his life in Augusta township.
He was a member of the masonic order for a number of years. He
was a kind and loving husband and father, and was always ready and
willing to do his duty in time of sickness and need. He took
an active interest in the advancement of the community. His
kind deeds will not be forgotten but will live after him.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, six sons, two daughters, and a
number of grandchildren, besides other relatives and a host of
friends. The children were all at the funeral except one son,
Lawrence, he being in Mexico.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 27, in the Disciple church
of Augusta, the discourse being delivered by Rev. Brown, after which
the masonic order had charge of service. Several members of
the order were present from a distance. A number of floral
designs were presented by friends who held him in high esteem.
