Marie and Wayland M. Brown.
"Buster" as that is what we called him, was my older brother.
He had the misfortune of being the oldest child and my mother, in a
brainstorm called him Wayland Marcellas Brown. I have always
thanked the Lord fervently that he spared me from my mother's
hallucinations as she came to her senses and called me some
understandable name.
L. Marie was a Leatherberry, sister of Charles Leatherberry, Embert,
Everett, Nora Miller, etc.
My brother, probably the most talented of the Brown boys, was also
the most headstrong and I do not believe he ever finished high
school. Smart, but determined to do his own thing.
Talented painter, rather good builder, had everything to do what he
would do. He bought an old home badly needing repairs just
east of Harley's and fixed it up. Here his two daughters were
raised.
He built a shooting range on the Carrollton road which is still in
existence. He had tremendous potential. Good brother.
Marie, musician and active in Augusta Christian Church, was a
faithful wife.
I thought, egotistically, that I was pretty good at things like
boxing, but my brother, Buster, was better, and I thought I could
play pool in my youth, but Buster was better. In so many
things he was so good.
