LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
JASINTHA BALL


IN THE NAME OF THE BELOVED FATHER OF ALL:  AMEN.

I, JASINTHA BALL, of the Town of Augusta, County of Carroll and State of Ohio, being about 77 years of age, and being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void all other last wills and testaments by me made heretofore:

FIRST:  My will is, that all my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid out of my estate, as soon after my decease as shall be found convenient.

SECOND:  I give, devise and bequeath to CHARLES J. BETTIS, son of Lela Bettis, now married to one John Owen, and to his heirs and assigns forever, the premises on property known as lots number 41 and 42 in the town of Augusta, Augusta Township, Carroll County, Ohio, on conditions that he, the said Charles J. Bettis, shall grow up to be a sober and industrious man, and provided however that said Charles J. Bettis shall neither sell or in any manner encumber said premises, except hereafter provided in this item, until he shall arrive at the age of twenty-one years, and shall at such age be industrious and not addicted to the excessive use of intoxicating liquors, and is otherwise free from other vicious and demoralizing habits.   The said Charles J. Bettis shall have the use only of said premises during his lifetime, and at his death said premises shall pass to the heirs of the body of said Charles J. Bettis.  Should said Charles J. Bettis die without issue, then said premises revert to my estate except I desire that Charles J. Bettis named herein shall be supported in case of serious sickness or accident, not caused by vicious habits and is deserving as above required.  In case the rents and profits arising from the real estate described herein be not sufficient to properly maintain and support him, I hereby authorize and direct that said real estate may be encumbered, or if necessary sold, for the purpose of obtaining money to properly maintain and support and care for said Charles J. Bettis during such sickness or disability, otherwise to be as heretofore directed in this item.

THIRD:  I give, devise and bequeath to my nephews, SAMUEL HESTON, ALBERT HESTON, ELGIE HESTON, CHARLES HESTON, GRANT HESTON and WILLIAM DAVIS, and to my nieces ETTA BETTIS and MARY RANDOLPH, each, the sum of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00).

FOURTH:  I give, devise and bequeath to the CHILDREN OF ELIZABETH DICKERHOFF who resided in Huron Co., Ohio, the sum of EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS ($800.00), to be divided equally to them.

FIFTH:  I give, devise and bequeath to EDITH MCCARTY, the daughter of Eliabeth and William McCarty, she being a cripple, the sum of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00).

SIXTH:  I give, devise and bequeath to my niece, EMMA PERMAN, the sum of THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00).

SEVENTH:  I give, devise and bequeath to my half-brother, SAMUEL HESTON, the sum of TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00).

EIGHTH:  I give, devise and bequeath the residue of my estate, if any remaining, to DOW HESTON, residing in Huron County, Ohio, and A. B. HESTON and ELGIE HESTON of Mechanicsville, Iowa, share and share alike.

NINTH:  It is my will that on the distribution of my estate, that my household goods, furniture shall not be sold, but shall be divided, without appraisement, and distributed according to the directions I have given, and in pursuance of a certain memoranda hereto attached and signed by me, if not distributed during life.

TENTH:  Reposing implicit confidence in A. H. MYERS of Augusta, Ohio, I hereby nominate and appoint him EXECUTOR OF THIS MY LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT, hereby authorizing and empowering him to compromise, adjust, release and discharge in such manner as he may deem proper, the debts and claims due me, and to otherwise do and perform all things necessary to carry out this my Last Will and Testament.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand to this my last will and testament, at Augusta, Ohio, this 1st day of June, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fourteen.

The foregoing instrument was signed by the said Jasintha Ball in our presence, and by her published and declared as and for her Last Will and Testament, and at her request, we in her presence and in the presence of each other,hereunto subscribe our names as attesting witnesses, at Augusta, Ohio, this 1st day of June, AD 1914.
